Rules of the Road

Unsanctioned Event: The Burnt Out 100 is an unsanctioned race and participants acknowledge and accept the associated risks involved in participating in such an event.

Unsupported Race: Participants understand and agree that the Burnt Out 100 is an unsupported race. There will be no aid stations, medical support, or other race infrastructure provided along the route. Participants are solely responsible for their own safety, well-being, and navigation.

Self-Sufficiency: Participants must be self-sufficient throughout the entirety of the race. This includes carrying all necessary food, water, navigation equipment, and any other supplies needed to complete the race.

Leave No Trace: Participants are required to adhere to the principles of Leave No Trace and must not leave any litter or waste along the race route. Any violation of this principle may result in disqualification from the race.

Environmental Considerations: Participants must respect the natural environment of the Tankwa Karoo and adhere to any specific environmental regulations or guidelines provided by race organizers.

Emergency Situations: In the event of an emergency, participants should be prepared to self-rescue or seek assistance from local authorities. Race organizers are not responsible for providing emergency assistance or rescue services.

Weather Conditions: Participants acknowledge that weather conditions in the Tankwa Karoo can be extreme and unpredictable. It is the responsibility of each participant to assess weather forecasts and prepare accordingly.

Health and Fitness: Participants should ensure that they are in good health and have the necessary fitness level to undertake the challenges of the Burnt Out 100. It is recommended that participants consult with a medical professional before participating in the race.

Liability Waiver: By participating in the Burnt Out 100, participants agree to waive any liability against race organizers, volunteers, sponsors, or other participants for any injury, loss, or damage incurred during the race.
